Title: STRUCTURAL AND MAGNETIC PHASE DIAGRAMS OF RMn1-xFexO3 SYSTEM WITH PEROVSKITE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE

Lecture goal: The transition metal oxides, with perovskite structure, have been largely studied because these materials exhibit strong coupling between orbital, electronic, spin and lattice degrees of freedom. The atomic substitution at the dodecahedral sites in stoichiometric compounds has been extensively studied and recently, interest has turned on to the effect of the substitution at the octahedral sites, where the experimental studies have been mainly focused on the magnetic behaviour, and few on the multiferroic properties. In our paper we focus on construction of structural and magnetic phase diagrams of RMn1-xFexO3 system with perovskite crystal structure (R = Nd, Pr, Tb and Dy). Our study was performed on single crystals prepared by optical floating zone method. We studied creation of the substitutional solid solutions in whole concentration range, evolution of Jahn-Teller (JT) effect and orbital ordering with substitution at the octahedral sites with non-active JT ion Fe3+. Construction of magnetic phase diagrams was undertaken with particular emphasis to determination of magnetic structure by means of magnetization, heat capacity and neutron diffraction measurements. We paid special attention to tuning of magneto-electric (ME) coupling in multiferroic compounds (RMnO3, R = Tb, Dy) with magnetically induced ferroelectricity by low concentration doping with Fe.

 

Title: STEFAN JEDLIK AWARD COMPETITION FOR THE BEST FINAL THESIS IN THE AREA OF APPLIED MAGNETISM AND MAGNETIC MATERIALS

Competition goal: The goal of the competition is to support young specialists dealing with the magnetism and the advancement of the co-operation among teachers and students of the Slovak universities and high schools in the given area. The competition results are declared during the Science and Technology Week in the Slovak republic and the ceremony is associated with the presentations of the winning theses.

 

Title: STUDY OF SINGLE DOMAIN WALL DYNAMICS IN BISTABLE MICROWIRES

Lecture goal: The aim of the event is to acquaint the audience with the results obtained by studying the dynamics of one domain wall in bistable magnetic microwires obtained using induction methods through a professional lecture and seminar. Specific conditions that determine the premagnetization process by moving just one domain wall will be characterized and possibilities of how to model this process will be presented.

 

 

Title: STUDY OF MATERIALS STRUCTURE USING X-RAY SCATTERINGMETHODS

Lecture goal: Amorphous alloys have been the subject of considerable scientific interest in recent decades due totheir excellent mechanical and magnetic properties. Metallic glasses can be structurally classified asmaterials with a short range atomic arrangement. In this lecture, several methodologies using X-rayscattering will be demonstrated in the study of atomic structure of Fe-based alloys. The results ofoptimizing their microstructure depending on the heat treatment with varying temperature andannealing time in order to achieve the minimum value of coercivity will be presented. The results ofthe structural analysis will be confronted with experiments on synchrotron and magneticmeasurements.

 

Title: VECTOR MAGNETOMETERS WITH AMORPHOUS MATERIALS AND THEIR SELECTED APPLICATIONS

Lecture goal: The aim of the event is to present the vector magnetometers that have been developed at the Faculty of Aeronautics of Technical University of Košice and some of their chosen applications through the professional lecture and seminar. These magnetometers found their use in different scientific tasks from the mapping of the magnetic field in the area of interest and object detection up to the contactless diagnostics of electrical devices.

 

Title: MAGNETORQUERS FOR SKCUBE SATELLITE

Lecture goal: The main scope of the specialized event is to introduce the participants into the details of design, developments and testing of the magnetorquers used for the first Slovak satellite skCUBE. Magnetorquers onboard of small satellites are used for the detumbling of satellite after the deploy from the transport container as well as for the attitude control of satellite during the mission.
